Òhe collection of art works for the period 1920 - 1950 of the Sakhalin Regional Art Museum consists of 50 paintings and 200 graphic items. The collection started right after the opening of the museum. At present, it is not an easy task to continue collecting works of art of 1920 - 1950 as many pieces belong to private and museum collections in Russia and abroad.
Realistic artist are considered to be the most conservative while explaining their creative positions. Our collection is represented by works of I.I. Brodskii, V.N. Meshkov, S.V. Gerasimov, P.P. Konchalovskii, S.V. Luchinskin. There artists became known prior to 1917 and were quite active in the Soviet time.
Graphic art of 1920 – 1950 is presented by the works donated by the State Russian Museum. Among these are engravings, lithographs, drawing and water colors.
